Gbolly Balogun
Mr. Gbolly Balogun is a property developer, development manager, & real estate consultant with over 24 years experience in management.
His career began in 1985 exporting fruit to Europe from Oshogbo, followed by ventures into Manufacturing Coir Fibre products in Badagry, Importation, Sales & Marketing of Logomats – customised doormats with his company, Waxtall, a company that he sold in 1993 after embarking on residential property development which eventually led to development management.
He formed County Estates Limited, his residential property development company, with the aim of providing total project management for owners of land or lease holders and introducing home ownership for Nigerians in the prime residential areas of Lagos by creating vehicles to accommodate the limited budgets of his target market.
County Estates has developed over 700 properties in Ikoyi, Onikan, Lekki. He has restructured the company with a high-powered board of directors holding 70% of the shares.
In 1996 he set up the Moorhouse Properties Limited (MPL), a Development Management company in partnership with a Corporate Lawyer, Koye Edu. MPL has carried out some major developments particularly in the hospitality sector in which it has retained an interest and serve as directors including:

The Board of Directors of MPL’s Travelhouse Budget Hotel Chain in Ibadan and Lagos has Leadway Insurance, FBN First Funds, UBA Private Equity, SCIB Insurance, Business Skills & Management (Ogere Training), African Alliance, all as equity partners.
In 2011 MPL sold 49% of its shares to IFC/World Bank and FBN Capital. Current MPL projects consist of the roll-out of Ibis and Travelhouse hotels nationwide.

Gbolly is a champion of the arts. He is an active supporter all artists from photographers, musicians, filmmakers, authors, publishers and others. In partnership with his wife, who shares his interests, he has hosted book readings, book launches, film screenings, and promoted the 2nd edition of the book, Lagos: A City at Work, as well as the 3rd edition of the book, Building Lagos. Other resource books in the fields of Architecture and Art are in planning.
He has a degree in Economics from Howard University, Washington DC and a post-graduate degree in Philosophy and History from the University of Lagos. His interests are jazz, physical fitness, non-fiction books, and social entrepreneurship. He is a member of the Metropolitan Club and the Lagos Motor Boat Club. He is married to Habiba Balogun, an Organisation Effectiveness Consultant, and they are blessed with twenty two year old twin girls.
